Directory terms and disclaimer
Volunteer Connections is a discovery directory, not a volunteer placement or management service. Organizations handle all applications, qualifications, screening, supervision, scheduling, training, and safety procedures through their existing systems.
Eligible organizations
Only organizations recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) may apply. An applicant must certify authority to act for the organization and provide accurate legal and volunteer-contact information. Listings are reviewed before publication, may be re-reviewed after material changes, and may be hidden or removed for safety, misuse, or failure to meet eligibility rules.
Independent judgment
Inclusion indicates that the application passed the directory's eligibility review at the time of publication; it does not imply an endorsement, a guarantee of tax status at any future time, or a guarantee of any organization's integrity, safety, accessibility, or volunteer opportunity. Volunteers must evaluate organizations and opportunities independently.
Links and communications
Volunteer Connections directs visitors to the organization's official existing signup website or volunteer email. Any resulting interaction occurs directly between the volunteer and that organization, not on Volunteer Connections. What Builds is not responsible for an organization's hiring, screening, or participation decisions.
Reporting
If you believe a profile is unauthorized, inaccurate, or misleading, contact What Builds through whatbuilds.com. We may temporarily hide a profile while investigating. Information about the submitting representative may be supplied to a properly verified organization representative for an authorization dispute.
